Well, Shakespeare couldn't have written a script better than the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals wrote. I have played in three World Series and broadcasted six World Series; this was by far the Cardinals' World Series which will be talked about for the longest time, especially Game 6. I was so happy to see this team have one of the best come-from-behind victories I've ever seen, fighting and scratching all the way to the very end to win the World Series.

I believe a key to this race was during the regular season when Chris Carpenter called an all-team meeting and asked every player to do a reality check with themselves. That really helped change the momentum of this club and ever since that meeting it was clear that this team had the ability to win. The hitting was spectacular, but the pitching was the key to it all. It was outstanding in the final month of the regular season and during the post-season to watch the Cardinals' pitchers perform so well.

When the Cardinals won the Wild Card position in the playoffs on the last day of the regular season, they were underestimated. Philadelphia underestimated them and there is one thing you never do in this business- underestimate a team, especially when the playoffs are going on. The Cardinals proved that once you are in the post-season it's anyone's game. The Cardinals versus the Phillies were made out to be David versus Goliath. Well, Goliath got knocked down and David went on to win the World Series. The only team that had success in Milwaukee versus the Brewers all season was the Cardinals; and the Cardinals were able to defeat Milwaukee in a hard-fought series and move on to play the Rangers. In my opinion Texas thought they had a shoe-in to this World Series.

Tony LaRussa made up his mind that this would be his last year during the regular season. I'm so happy that he got to retire after the winning the World Series. He deserves this title more than anyone - just like the old saying, whatever goes around comes around. All of Tony LaRussa's hard hours at work, dedication, and commitment paid off for him - and you could tell that the players were happy to play their hearts out for their Manager. Tony will go down as one of the best managers in baseball and in the Cardinal organization.

Congratulations to Bill DeWitt, Tony LaRussa, and John Mozeliak for bringing home the 11th World Series title to Saint Louis. Also, hats off to St. Louis's very own David Freese, who gets his due by winning the National League Championship Series MVP and the World Series MVP. And let me not forget Chris Carpenter and the pitching job he did on the final day of the season down in Houston, in the fifth and final game in Philadelphia against the Phillies' Doc Halladay, and in the 7th game of the World Series on short rest. The whole team and the coaches were spectacular - they worked together, with a different leader almost every game, and had a fun time along the way.

The winter will go fast and we'll all look forward to the first day of Spring Training in Jupiter with great anticipation.

Who was the last Cardinal to win the World Series MVP prior to David Freese?

This month we are going to highlight the Joseph Phelps Insignia. This 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon boasts aromatic layers of dark roasted coffee and graphite. The seductive mouth-feel has excellent length, intensely ripe black fruit, and creaminess that tie together seamlessly on the palate. This will pair perfectly with the Crown Filet.

This month I am pleased to feature once again the Crown Filet. This 12-ounce Filet is topped with a Cajun Seared Crab Cake, a Jumbo Shrimp, and Bearnaise Sauce. This is a beautiful dish which tastes even better than it looks. Come down and treat yourself to this wonderful entree and enjoy. Call and make your reservations today.
