There is no doubt that the NL Central race is going to go down to the wire this season. If Tony LaRussa's team can follow his strategy, which is to win every series, we will see the Cards in the playoffs. I would like to see the Cardinals go on a 10-12 day winning tear to recapture their lead and secure the NL Central division. Although we only have two months of regular season baseball, there is a lot that can happen between now and the end of September.

The recent Toronto trades by John Mozeliak may have been one of his better trades, possibly the best since he has been the Cardinals General Manager. I like the much needed acquisition of the right-handed starter Edwin Jackson. I also like seeing the relievers we acquired, the right-handed Octavio Dotel and left-handed Marc Rzepczynski. With those recent bullpen additions and the moving of Kyle McClellan to the bullpen, this is a plus-plus for the Cardinals. And the reactions of the players to the trades have been so professional. It shows how much they want to win, Tony wants to win and the owners want to win. The key now is to keep the players healthy and the big hitters hitting. If Albert Pujols, Lance Berkman and Matt Holliday all stay healthy and all get hot, this Cardinals team will be headed hopefully to some Fall ball. This team will not give up and there is going to be some great baseball to watch at Busch Stadium with the less than 30 home games remaining. The Cardinals host the Brewers twice, once in August and once in September, the Pirates in August, and the Cubbies for the last regular home series in September - which means lots of excitement around Busch Stadium and the final days of baseball for the Central Division crown.

See you at the ball park and at Shannon's.

New happy hour starting at 2 p.m.

What year did the Cardinals win their first world series?

This month we are continuing to highlight the Cain Vineyard & Winery which are from Napa Valley. The Cain Cuvee, Cain Concept, and Cain Five have been top-sellers at Shannon's. These fantastic wines have a combination of the five classic Bordeaux varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. Cain Concept is offered by the glass and is half off during happy hour. Come on down and try one of the fantastic wines from the Cain portfolio.

If you did not try the 16 ounce Bone-In last month, you need to come down and give it a shot. The 16 ounce Bone-In Dry Aged New York Strip is an excellent entree selection and I strongly recommend you come in hungry to try this steak. All of our diners are really loving this cut. If you're looking for a great steak dinner, I know you'll like this one.

If you are in the mood for something a little lighter, try one of our outstanding Seafood options - the Red Snapper, Scallops, Grouper, Halibut, or Wild Alaskan Salmon. You may have your fish grilled, sauteed or blackened. We have also updated a couple of our wonderful sauces which are: Sweet Chili Soy, Beet Vinaigrette, Fennel Tzatziki, Thai Basil & Cilantro Pesto, Orange Mojo and Roast Garlic and Chipotle Chimichurri.
